“Slanic salt mine is around 100 kilometres north of Bucharest which took just under 2.5 hours due to traffic jams and one 'comfort stop'. Naturally, there were traffic jams both coming and going - 'the Government will finish the new road ONE day - no set date'. Once at the site, we boarded a ‘mine’ bus and were taken underground to 208 metres below the surface – it took 7 and ½ minutes to get there from the car park. HUGE caverns have been dug out of the salt – amazing patterns and salt ‘waterfalls’ along with a souvenir shop, kids games, dodgem cars etc – all with a constant…”
