Two mines, four hundred kilometres apart, and they are nothing alike. Turda, near Cluj, is a mined-out chamber with a ferris wheel, a bowling lane and a rowing lake on the level below. Slănic Prahova, the day trip out of Bucharest, is bigger, plainer and sells the air rather than the funfair. Both hold around 12°C all year.
